ellenor launches Christmas raffle to fund care for families

ellenor launched it's Christmas raffle this week, with the help of the Loughnane family (pictured above), to raise funds to provide care, and to give it's supporters a chance to win a weeks 4* holiday to Tenerife or £1,500 cash in our prize draw.

For Nick and Sharon Loughnane, every moment is precious as both their boys; Thomas aged 8, and Connor aged 6, have been diagnosed with severe heart conditions and other major health complications for which there is no cure.  They never know how many Christmases they will be able to share all together.

“We didn’t expect Connor to see his first Christmas”

Following Connor’s emergency admission to hospital and heart surgery in 2009, Connor wasn’t expected to see his first Christmas. Since then, ellenor has become part of the family, providing hours of care each week for the boys as well as Mum and Dad, attending hospital and consultant appointments alongside them, and even arranging holidays so they can have a chance like other families to get away and enjoy precious time together.

Dad, Nick says “The care ellenor gives allows us to catch up on jobs around the house and do other things. It is also a good break for the boys who have a few hours away from their nagging parents and have some real fun.”

For the Loughnane family, having the chance to celebrate together this year will mean so much. With your help, they can have the care and support they need to cope with whatever lies ahead.

Nick adds "We could never have imagined that both our boys would be born with a near identical condition. We were devastated at the news. While surgery has stabilised their condition, there is nothing further that can be done once they start to deteriorate so we have to treat every day as precious and not think too far into the future.”

Taking part in our prize draw will help raise the funds which means ellenor will be there to provide the specialist medical support and the practical and emotional care the whole family need, in their own home, day and night, every single day of the year including Christmas day!

Tickets are £2 and can be purchased from our centres in Gravesend and Dartford and in our shops.  The closing date for entries is Friday 18 December with the draw taking place on Christmas Eve.

Last year, the raffle raised over £40,000, with many people generously choosing to include an additional donation so that even more families can get the help they need
