Elmia Automation lived up to expectations

Elmia Automation ended on Friday. It was a fair that together with the industry aimed to reinforce Sweden’s manufacturing industry. “This was the most comprehensive automation fair for the manufacturing industry that’s ever been arranged in Sweden,” says project manager Lina Kåvestam.

Elmia Automation is the leading automation fair for Sweden’s manufacturing industry. After four intensive days with many robots, automation solutions and components, this year’s fair has come to an end.
“We’re extremely pleased with our multi-year collaboration with the industry and together we’ve offered the visitors a wide selection of automation solutions,” Kåvestam says.
This year’s fair was 25 percent larger than in 2012 and there were 129 exhibitors. In other words, expectations before the fair opened were high.
“It was noticeable that the fair has established itself as the leading automation fair for the manufacturing industry,” Kåvestam says. “The exhibitors presented more solutions than at the last fair and there were more than eighty robots in the two halls.”
A number of the exhibitors had made a special effort with big stands and multiple solutions in their display.
“Everyone has said that the visitors were of incredibly high quality, and a number of companies set new records for the number of new leads made during a single fair,” says Manne Seifter, chairman of Swedish Automation Group, an alliance of industry associations.
He is now looking ahead and regards the end of this year’s fair as a good starting point for the next Elmia Automation in two years’ time.
“We’re extremely pleased as an association to help arrange Elmia Automation. Our members are also very satisfied with the fair and we are eagerly looking forward to 2016.”
Project manager Lina Kåvestam is also looking ahead.
“We’re looking forward to the next fair two years from now and we’re already hard at work preparing for it. Until then we will be organising a range of activities for the industry.”

Exhibitors’ comments:

“Elmia Automation 2014 is the most successful fair in history for Schunk in the Nordic region. We’ve had a huge response and exceeded our goal for the number of contacts made at the fair by 35 percent compared with 2012,” says Tomas Berg, marketing manager for Schunk in the Nordic countries.

“Both Fanuc and our partners are satisfied with the fair. The right visitors were here and some partners even did deals on the spot. The end customers have been interested in both Fanuc’s products and our partners’ solutions,” says Dennis Librell, sales manager for Fanuc in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

“At the Scandinavian Automotive Suppliers’ Association we’re skilled at automation. But we can definitely become better in general. Above all, the internal logistics flows can be automated more. That way we can further increase our competitiveness,” says Fredrik Sidahl, CEO of the Scandinavian Automotive Suppliers’ Association (FKG).
