Unique Millenium box on sale at Sotheby´s

Today a spectacular, unique boxed set of Stieg Larsson´s Millenium trilogy will be sold at Sotheby´s in London. MacLehose had made the box that has been designed by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. The money raised will go to the Expo foundation where Stieg used to work.

MARK SMITH, C.E.O. of Quercus Publishers:

"MacLehose Press had made a boxed set edition of the Millennium Trilogy after the trade editions were published and I had the idea that an exceptional, one-off copy, designed and made by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, would be not only a a way of honouring our lost author but also a way of raising money through a sale at Sotheby's for Expo, the foundation and magazine that Stieg Larsson had co-founded. The three volumes that they made are magnificent and have the added value of a letter to Stieg of considerable interest which the Larsson family generously gave to us to go inside the boxed set, but the whole binding, which is witty and clever and original and lavish has exceeded my best hopes for it and it goes on sale with the publisher's profoundest respect for Expo and the memory of one of the world's greatest storytellers".

The Estate of Stieg Larsson, namely Stieg Larsson's father and brother, comment on the sale:

"We are greatly impressed by this beautiful one-off binding of The Millennium Trilogy, intricately designed to reflect the contents of the books. It is not only a collector's piece that can be described as an homage to the publishing phenomenon that Stieg's books became following his death, but very importantly its sale will benefit an organisation he believed in deeply. It gives Stieg's brother and myself great pleasure to know that Expo will benefit from funds that will enable the foundation and magazine to continue their hugely important work."
