An Introduction Agency for Sperm Donors

Gone are the days when you had to be straight and married to have children. These days singles and same sex couples have the opportunity to build their families with the help of sperm donors, and they don't even need to visit a fertility clinic.

Those in need of sperm donors can now simply join one of the dozens of Internet donor sites to find their ideal donor. With subscription fees at about £30 per month, they are a lot more affordable than fertility clinics where donor sperm carries a price tag of about £800 per sample, excluding treatment and consultation fees. Most importantly, Internet donor sites offer options not available at fertility clinics, such as interracial donations, knowing the identity of donors, donors being able to decide who receives their donations and donors co-parenting with their recipients.

Critics say these sites are dangerous and exploitative of people desperate to have children. They also say using a donor site carries health and legal risks for donors and recipients alike.

Seyi Joseph, founder of feelingbroody.com, argues that these donor sites are a blessing for many who would otherwise never become parents.

Seyi says, "Like everything else, there are pros and cons to using donor sites. Largely, they are set up similarly to dating sites, so there’s the obligatory browsing through endless profiles. A lot of donor sites offer free membership or are free to join and, unfortunately, this sometimes attracts the less than serious types and some who wrongly see them as a haven for free sex. This however doesn’t change the fact that these donor sites are accessible, affordable and, unlike UK fertility clinics, are not experiencing a shortage of local sperm donors. As long as users possess and apply some common sense, in my opinion these sites are safe to use."
Seyi, 37, met her 47-year old donor Robert online 6 years ago and together they are co-parents to two boys Alex aged 5 and Elias, 2.

After being turned down for adoption, Seyi spent all her savings paying for fertility treatments, both in the UK and USA. Eventually, having run out of money and with nothing to show for it, she turned to the Internet where she met Robert.

Seyi set up feelingbroody.com to help people like her find their donors or co-parents safely and affordably. Feeling Broody is different from other internet donor sites in that there are no profiles to browse and potential members have to provide proof of ID and agree to STI tests and background checks before they are accepted.

Seyi explains: "Our one-off membership fees cover ID and health checks, searches, matches and introductions. In actual value our fees are lower than annual membership fees for other donor sites (around £360 pa) and well worth the peace of mind."
