Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is among the largest in the country, with a budget of around £630mn and serving a population of 540,605. As an organisation that has only recently celebrated its second birthday, they have made some real progress in understanding how they believe local health services can rise to the national demographic and financial challenge facing the NHS.

All CCGs are grappling with that same challenge, but in Southern Derbyshire they have taken huge steps in getting partners in primary care, hospitals, local authorities and other crucial organisations together to develop a joint solution.

Following a productive and successful tenure, their current Accountable Officer will be taking a well-deserved retirement. As a result, they are now starting the process to identify and appoint the individual who will play a key role in leading Southern Derbyshire’s continued success in what will be a challenging but rewarding time ahead.

The role of Accountable Officer is fundamental to the success of the local health economy. This executive leadership post is responsible for ensuring the interests of patients and communities are at the centre of the CCGs decisions and that the voices of their 56 member practices are heard.

As their Accountable Officer you will champion and uphold the values of the CCG. You will be a charismatic and inspiring leader, with the gravitas to unite colleagues and stakeholders across their health economy. In doing so you will help to deliver the fundamental transformation required to ensure that their population continues to receive outstanding care and services, whilst maintaining value for money.
