A leading NHS Trust based in the East of England is currently seeking to appoint an experienced Assistant Director of Patient Safety and Experience to be responsible for the effective management of the budget for patient safety and experience.

The Assistant Director of Patient Safety and Experience will be responsible for, and take the lead for, the strategic planning and development of the Patient Safety, Patient Experience and equality and diversity agenda.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Directing, coordinating and leading the Trust Patient Safety improvement initiative across the organisation, standardising best practice and reducing variation across the Trust;
  • Developing and implementing a strategy for ensuring Trustwide compliance with the Equality Delivery System;
  • Developing and delivering an innovative strategy which demonstrates the link between patient safety, patient experience and equality and diversity;
  • Ensuring appropriate processes are in place to support the prompt investigation and resolution of complaints;
  • Working in partnership with medical, nursing and other colleagues to ensure learning is embedded across the organisation;
  • Participating in the Clinical Quality Impact Assessment for all service developments, advising where risks to patient safety and patient experience have not been identified;
  • Providing highly specialised advice on all aspects of patient safety, patient experience and equality and diversity clinical and operational leads across the Trust that will impact positively on patient care;
  • Developing and delivering regular patient satisfaction surveys and ensuring appropriate participation in the national patient surveys.
  • Demonstrating strong leadership skills to all professions in strategies to improve patient safety and patient experience.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current valid Healthcare Registration – NHS, HCPC or alternative;
  • Extensive proven experience at senior level  of an Acute Trust;
  • Broad knowledge base of patient safety and experience;
  • Developed decision making skills, both clinically and operationally based.
