Our client is a leading provider of non-clinical support services to the NHS and has developed a strong reputation in the sector. They offer Estates, Facilities and Capital projects consultancy support to clients in the healthcare environment.

We are currently assisting them in delivering an ambitious growth plan, to further enable them to offer consultancy support to NHS clients throughout London and the rest of the UK. With this in mind, they are recruiting to a number of interim Project and Cost Management roles. Suitable candidates will ideally have worked in a consultancy environment, offering professional technical and management support services to the healthcare sector.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a full range of cost management services, including post-contract management and final account agreement, change management and life cycle costings;
  • Applying Value and Risk Management techniques including developing a culture of risk and value awareness and management within programme and project delivery teams;
  • Implementing governance and assurance models to ensure effective delivery of cost management of capital programmes and projects;
  • Supporting business case production with overall or specific contributions;
  • Actively engaging in the development and improvement of current and new systems and processes to enhance programme and project delivery and providing best practice capabilities, including achieving relevant quality assurance accreditation;
  • Work with the Director of Capital Development to develop and extend the Cost Management service;
  • Managing the Profit & Loss / financial performance on own projects, analysing performance against budget and income targets and monitoring efficiency of others on own projects;
  • Achieving against an annual new business development consultancy target;
  • Managing and preparing tenders including bid documentation;
  • Assisting in the handling of complex client negotiations, providing support to the Director of Capital Development;
  • Acting as the client relationship manager for individual clients and account manage issues for existing and new clients;
  • Ensuring that Commission Execution Plans are developed for all commissions and updated throughout the commission.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Professional qualification in service delivery related subject, educated to a Masters Degree or equivalent level in a relevant field or with equivalent experience in a construction role;
  • Full membership of a chartered institute in the construction industry (e.g. RICS, CIBSE, CIOB, or MICE);
  • At least 5 years proven experience as an Associate Director gained in programme and project environments;
  • Significant and in depth experience and record of achievement in successfully delivering technically complex and high value construction projects and programmes, working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting business cases at SOC, OBC and FBC stages;
  • Significant experience of successfully leading and managing a team of project managers responsible for projects up to £50million in value.
