Erewash, Hardwick, North Derbyshire and Southern Derbyshire are the four Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) responsible for commissioning health services for the population of Derbyshire. The CCGs have taken the decision to establish a single executive team. This will provide a strong commissioning voice for Derbyshire, it will allow more effective joint working between the CCGs and it will support the realisation of the plans laid out in their STP.

They have recently embarked on a process to recruit an Accountable Officer and their next step is to identify a Chief Finance Officer. The Chief Finance Officer will be responsible for developing a credible financial strategy and robust financial systems for four organisations that will have a combined commissioning spend that will exceed £1.5bn. As part of a single executive team the post holder will be responsible for the CCG’s finance functions and reporting CCG finances to the four individual governing bodies. In addition to this they will have the opportunity to represent the CCGs externally by playing an active and important role in shaping the future of health and social care across our STP and supporting our journey towards an Accountable Care System.

The Chief Finance Officer will work closely with their Accountable Officer to ensure they work collaboratively as an effective strategic commissioner for Derbyshire, while continuing their journey towards integrated commissioning. Ultimately they want to provide the best quality and value of services to the population they serve and the Chief Finance Officer will champion this objective while ensuring the CCGs maintain the highest standards of accounting, audit and governance, and can assure the Clinical Chairs that the CCGs finance and resources are being managed with probity.

They aim to appoint an outstanding individual who will bring the right blend of attributes and a genuine affinity with the values and ambitions their four organisations share. Candidates must have acquired significant leadership experience at board level and will possess an in-depth understanding of the health system in this county. As a suitable candidate for this post you will be able to demonstrate you are an inspiring leader, and a strategic, innovative thinker with exceptional communication and influencing skills.
