Our featured job of the week is for a leading NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint new Deputy Chief Operating Officer. Working alongside the clinical and operational leaders of their seven Clinical Groups and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for day to day performance of planned care as well as leading programmes of innovation and development pan-Trust.

At Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust they want to deliver truly brilliant, integrated care. Just like you, they’re ambitious about what they do. They’re always seeking ways to do more and provide the best care for their patients.

They want you to be part of their exciting future.

Their new Deputy Chief Operating Officer structure offers an opportunity with real scope to influence future clinical service provision. Working alongside the clinical and operational leaders of their seven Clinical Groups and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for day to day performance of planned care as well as leading programmes of innovation and development pan-Trust. In addition to leading on demand, capacity planning and pathway redesign, the Deputy COO for Planned Care will also provide senior operational leadership to the Trust IT change programme including implementation of speech recognition and the preparedness, redesign of ways of working and operational delivery of our new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) in 2017.

In addition they are undergoing major challenges to the way that they work. With the new Midland Metropolitan Hospital due for completion in less than 700 days they need to transform their services to meet the needs of their population and to ensure that services are provided in the most effective way across the three, soon to be four, main sites. We have produced a candidate briefing document which provides more detail on the Trust, its strategic direction and plans, and the Black Country Alliance.
