Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust aspire to be recognised as the best integrated care organisation in England. They have a clear 2020 vision for their services and patient care, underpinned by strategic plans for safety, quality, public health, research and development and workforce. Just like you, they’re ambitious about what they do and they have defined plans for estates, digital and workforce that underpin their 2020 aspirations. They’re always seeking ways to do more and provide the best care for their patients.

They are one of the largest provider organisations in the NHS, with an annual income of over £500 million and over 7,200 colleagues. They provide community and acute services to over half a million people. Their plans include massive investment in a new hospital, the Midland Metropolitan Hospital due to open in October 2018, significant investment in digital infrastructure including a new EPR and technological innovation including managed service contracts ensuring they have the best equipment. Their community services expand this year with alignment of medical specialities and primary care to the service portfolio and significant expansion in community based care over the next 3 years.

Due to the retirement of the current Group Director of Community and Therapies and their planned expansion plans for community services, they are now seeking to appoint to a new post of Director of Operations to their Primary, Community & Therapies Clinical Group to support them in achieving their strategic objectives ad 2020 vision.

The post holder will lead their innovative acute therapies service and their significant community development which is planned over the next 3 years. This year medical based specialties such as dermatology, diabetes, rheumatology and neurology will join the primary and community care clinical group. Primary Care will join in 2018. This is the next phase of strategic development to ensure the Trust demonstrates strength in integrated care and readiness to be a provider in new accountable care models of service. This integration is not just a restructure but a significant organisational development for community, primary, secondary care medical specialties and acute therapies.

You will need to demonstrate extensive experience of community based services management at a senior level, possess strong leadership skills, a track record of delivering results and strategic planning working across a broad range of stakeholders. With strong change management skills, you will need to be able to effectively lead teams through a period of transformation.
