An Acute Trust based in the East of England is currently looking to recruit a General Manager – Surgery for an initial period of 3 months.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Using extensive experience working at a senior management level in a large complex organisation preferably within the NHS;
• Effective workforce planning and service developments;
• Solving issues within a complex healthcare environment;
• Managing and developing multi- disciplinary teams;
• Effectively managing policy implementation;
• Budgetary management and control, including achieving annual targets on a regular basis;
• Leading transformation across a range of diverse services;
• Building credibility quickly and sustain it within the organisation;
• Analysing and interpreting financial data in order to manage expenditure;
• Lead and facilitate new initiatives/changes;
• Making sound judgments and generating new ideas in complex situations.

A successful candidate will have:

• Education to degree level or equivalent;
• Higher professional or management degree (Masters Level) or equivalent knowledge acquired by experience;
• Evidence of continuing professional development including regular attendance on internal and external study programmes;
• Knowledge and understanding of a range of issues across the NHS and NHS patient agenda;
• Quality focused with an innovative approach and the ability to solve complex problems;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to motivate and enthuse colleagues;
• Good analytical and strategic visioning skills;
• Political awareness – ability to perceive impact of actions on the decisions and activities of others.
