Our featured job of the week is for an NHS organisation based in the South Central area of England who are looking for a Head of Estates and Facilities for an initial period of 3 months.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a key member of the estates and facilities senior management team; with responsibility for ensuring that the estate environment is safe and well maintained;
  • Internal Communications: In conjunction with the Trust Communications team, responsible for communications with employees, patients, their carers, the general public and, when required, external and internal auditing and authorised bodies on estate and facilities matters. This includes responding to complaints, FoI requests and providing general information, ensuring appropriate legal advice is sought where any contractual or risk issue warrants it;
  • External Communications: Supporting the D of E&F to establish and nurture effective working relationships and partnerships with other key estates leads in other organisations including the university, local health and social care providers, local authorities and other relevant government bodies to benchmark services and performance and, participate in joint sustainability programmes;
  • Through the extensive use of a range of Microsoft products the post holder is responsible for the production of technical reports to the Director, Committees, Trust Boards, Project Boards, and external bodies;
  • Delivering all operational estates and facilities services, and ensuring that the estate is effectively managed, safe and of suitable quality.

A successful candidate will have:

  • A detailed knowledge of the financial and strategic aspects of estates and facilities;
  • Able to demonstrate expert knowledge of all aspects of operational estates and facilities management;
  • Detailed knowledge of statutory requirements in relation to estates and facilities;
  • Detailed knowledge of HTM/HBN requirements in relation to estate management;
  • Can demonstrate knowledge of NHS PLACE inspections;
  • Degree in estate and facilities related subject; and substantial experience as a senior manager within an estates and facilities department.
