AA Commissioning Organisation based in London is currently recruiting a Head of Governance for an initial period of 3 months.

The role of the Head of Governance & Corporate Affairs is to ensure the Governing Body and its Committees are properly constituted and advised in order that they fulfil their individual and collective corporate governance responsibilities.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Providing Corporate Governance advice and support to the Accountable Officer and Chair of the CCG;
  • Managing the CCG’s key governance Committees;
  • Holding Corporate responsibility for the Governing Body’s risk management and Assurance Frameworks;
  • Co-ordinating and participating in the CCG’s planning processes, liaising with the Planning and Performance Management Director;
  • Supporting the Directors and the senior management team in ensuring the CCG has strong partnerships in place that help deliver its commissioning ambitions through system- governance;
  • Working collaboratively with the Chief Officer to ensure that the CCG meets its corporate governance responsibilities in providing assurance to NHS England;
  • Overseeing all aspects of corporate governance such as: Complaints Management; Policy development; Regulatory relationships and compliance;
  • Managing the CCG’s Headquarters Administrative Team;
  • Supporting the Board Secretary in preparing for Governing Body Board Meetings, CCG’s Annual General Meeting and the development of the membership and governance framework for the CCG;
  • Ensuring all contributions, discussions and decision making that relate to the business of the Governing Body’s Board and its sub-committees are compliant and properly recorded.

A successful candidate will have;

  • Educated to Master’s level or equivalent;
  • Evidence of continuing professional development;
  • Legal Professional Qualifications or evidence of acquiring qualifications in Corporate Governance;
  • Registration with the ICSA;
  • Significant experience in Corporate Governance and Risk Management in the NHS or other public sector;
  • Expertise and experience of regulatory compliance and planning in a healthcare environment, preferably in commissioning organisation;
  • Thorough understanding of the statutory and regulatory framework governing the work of the NHS, including CCGs, and of the broader requirements and standards of good governance;
  • Ability to provide informative reporting on corporate governance and Board management;
  • Significant experience of healthcare providers performance management and monitoring.
