Finegreen Associates are working with a large East Midlands based Acute Foundation Trust to resource for an Interim Head of Strategic Planning.

The trust requires and individual to lead their strategic and operational planning activities over the next six months whilst a permanent appointee is identified.

Main Responsibilities

To coordinate effective strategic and operational planning processes within the Trust in regards to;

  • The specific requirements of Monitor in general terms and also in respect of Special Measures and the additional scrutiny that accompanies this designation;
  • Commissioners requirements as articulated in the health and social care community transformation programme, through contracts (QIPP, CQUIN etc) and through other means such as the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment and the Health and Wellbeing Plan;
  • The clinical and managerial leadership capacity of the Trust and the multiple demands upon the time of key individuals.

Report to the Director of Strategic Planning and Commercial Development as well as work with the following stakeholders;

  • Corporate directorate colleagues at Deputy or Assistant Director level;
  • Divisional leadership teams including Clinical Directors, Matrons and crucially Divisional General Managers;
  • Commissioners;
  • Monitor.

The post holder will also be responsible for the following deliverables;

  • Strategic and Operational Plans that authentically represent the strategic direction and operational priorities of the Trust;
  • Service line (clinical specialty) strategic plans that determine the future for each of the Trust’s clinical services for the 3-5 year time horizon;
  • Divisional annual plans that reflect the operational priorities for each clinical division and which in turn reflect, and are prepared with the backdrop of, corporate and service line strategies;
  • Key Elements Trust Annual Report that give a retrospective account of the delivery of key aspects of strategic and operational plans and provide opportunities for reflection on what has worked well and areas for improvement in respect of future delivery.

To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate experience and success in NHS Strategic Planning.
