A Local Authority based in London is currently looking for a Public Health Consultant with experience in Mental Health for a period of 3 months initially.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting and working closely with other departments in order to improve health and well-being outcomes and to tackle health inequalities;
• Leading and managing a programme of work focused on Mental Health;
• Supporting and implementing service development and redesign across care pathways, including population interventions for prevention and case finding, primary, secondary and palliative care;
• Leading the strategic development, commissioning, delivery, evaluation and performance management of programmes and services designed to improve health and reduce health inequalities in these key areas;
• Supporting the production of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment;
• Providing expert public health advice and leadership to support and inform an evidence-based approach within ethical frameworks;
• Developing high quality equitable services, across primary, secondary and social care, and across other sectors including the voluntary.

A successful candidate will have:

• A master’s in Public Health or equivalent with wide experience of working in public health;
• Experience working in Mental Health;
• High level of understanding of statistics, public health practice, health promotion, health economics and health care evaluation;
• The ability to prioritise work and work well against a background of change and uncertainty and be adaptable to situations, can handle people of all capabilities and attitudes.
