Appeal after five people assaulted in Portsmouth

Officers are appealing for information after five people were assaulted in Portsmouth.

Just after 9.45pm on Saturday, 7 July officers were called to a report of a number of people fighting on Fratton Road, outside the Froddington Arms.

The incident started following a disagreement between patrons in the Froddington Arms.Other patrons tried to intervene which resulted in them being assaulted.

Five people were injured; a 19-year-old man suffered a cut to his hand and neck, a 30-year-old man sustained a cut lip, a 50-year-old man sustained a cut his hand, a 60-year-old man suffered bruising to his body and a 25-year-old woman sustained a bruise to her head.

Officers have descriptions of two men they would like to speak to:

Man one: White, aged 20 to 25, 5ft 10ins, of slim build with dark hair.He was wearing a white polo shirt, light blue shorts and red trainers.

Man two: White, aged 40 – 50, 6ft, of slim build with short dark hair.He was wearing a navy blue polo shirt, knee length shorts and navy blue slip on shoes.

Detective Constable Paul Stenton, said: “I am appealing for anyone who has any other information about this incident to come forward.  Were you in the area at the time of the incident?  I would urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.”
