We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision between a cyclist and a single decker bus that happened in Cosham today (Saturday 23 June).

The incident happened just before 9.30am on Northern Road.

The cyclist, a 71-year-old man from Cosham, was riding in a northerly direction on a black bike.

He was transported to Southampton General Hospital with a head injury, however he has since died.

Officers dealing with the incident partially closed Northern Road for several hours.

Police Sergeant Andy Gwyer from the Eastern Roads Policing Unit said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened, or prior to what happened.

“We would particularly like to trace the passengers on the bus as we believe some of them got off to help.

“If you saw anything that you think could help our investigation, please get in touch.”
