Appeal for witnesses following thefts from cars in Hook

Police are investigating after steering wheels were stolen from several cars at a dealership in Hook.

Officers were called following a break-in at Imperial Cars, in Taplins Farm Lane, in Hook, on November 22.

A total of nine cars were broken into, each having the windows smashed to gain entry.

Steering wheels and interior fittings from eight BMWs and one Volkswagen CC were stolen.

It comes following a series of steering wheel thefts in Basingstoke overnight on November 19.

Sgt Marcus McDevitt said: “This happened sometime between 12.35am and 2am on November 22, so we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area that night and saw anything suspicious.

“We know that similar thefts have happened in Basingstoke this week, so I’d like to take this opportunity to urge residents to remain vigilant.

“If you see anyone hanging around vehicles in your street that causes you concern, let us know.

“As our investigations continue, any information you have could help.”
