Appeal made after man assaulted in Basingstoke park

We are appealing for witnesses as part of an investigation into an assault on a man in Eastrop Park, Basingstoke.

It took place sometime between 6pm and 6.30pm on Sunday 9 September.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, was walking through the park when he was approached by a group of men.

They asked him for a light before pushing him to the ground and assaulting him.

The victim sustained a cut to face for which he received treatment at the North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke.

The first man is described as:

  • white
  • 20 to 25 years of age
  • around 5ft 7ins tall
  • of medium build
  • short, blonde hair

The second man is described as:

  • black
  • 20 to 25 years of age
  • around 5ft 4ins tall
  • of medium build
  • short, black hair

The third man is described as:

  • black
  • aged 20 to 25 years of age
  • around 5ft 7ins tall
  • muscular
  • black hair in a messy Afro style

The fourth man is described as:

  • black
  • aged around 19 or 20 years of age
  • around 6ft tall
  • of skinny build
  • short, black hair

Detective Constable Christopher Phillips said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened.

“The park would have been busy at the time.

“Were you there? Did you see a group of men hanging around the park near the Eastrop Road entrance? If so, we would like to hear from you.”
