CCTV image released in Southampton robbery investigation

Do you recognise this woman?

We would like to speak to her as part of an investigation into a robbery at Southampton Old Cemetery.

At around 2.15pm on Monday 8 October, a 61-year-old woman in the cemetery was approached from behind by a man and her handbag was pulled from her shoulder.

She was pushed to the ground before the man ran off with the handbag, which contained a phone and her purse.

The woman sustained bruising to her arm.

The offender was described as:

  • white
  • around 25 to 30 years of age
  • of slim build
  • dark hair
  • thick eyebrows
  • wearing a dark coloured hooded top which covered his head and sides of his face.

A card from the stolen purse was later used by a woman to buy a lottery ticket at the Co-op store in Wyndham Place.

We have released a CCTV image of a woman we would like to identify as part of our investigation.

Detective Constable Kimberley Bownes said: “Do you know who this woman is? We are keen to identify her as she may have information which could help with our investigation.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who was in Southampton Old Cemetery at this time and remembers seeing anything suspicious.”
