CCTV images issued following purse theft in Basingstoke

Do you recognise this man?

We would like to speak to him as part of an investigation into a theft in Basingstoke.

Between 7.30am and 1pm on Wednesday 13 June, a purse was stolen from an office in a residential care home in Jefferson Road.

A card from the purse was used the same day to purchase a Breitling watch worth £6,300 at the Goldsmiths store in the Festival Place shopping centre.

An attempt was also made to use the card at the Beaverbrooks store in Festival Place, but this was not successful.

We have released images of a man we would like to identify as part of this investigation.

He is described as white, aged 23 to 30 years old, of medium build and wore a black baseball cap and a black t-shirt.

PC Paul Martin said: “Do you know who this man is? Perhaps someone has offered to sell you a Breitling watch for sale recently? If so, please contact us.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to remind people to make sure personal items are kept securely and to not disclose PIN numbers for bank cards.”
