CCTV images released following shop assault in Portsmouth

Officers investigating an assault in a Portsmouth shop have released CCTV images.

We were called at 1.40am to reports of an assault on a member of staff working in the Best One store, on Fratton Road, on June 28.

The member of staff, a 45-year-old man, was punched in the chest when he confronted a man in the store who he believed was trying to steal alcohol.

Fortunately the cashier did not suffer any serious injuries and the man left the store empty handed.

Officers investigating the assault would like to speak to the people shown in the CCTV images as they may have information about the incident.
