CCTV: Officers in Hedge End investigate series of garage break-ins

Officers in Hedge End are investigating a series of garage break-ins which have happened over the last two weeks.

Between August 25 and September 3 there have been nine reported garage breaks in the area, all of which happened overnight.

In the majority of the cases damage has been caused to the lock mechanism of the garage and power tools and bikes have been stolen.

The incidents have happened in Missenden Acres, Walker Gardens, Stirling Crescent, Elliot Rise and Drummond Road.

Officers investigating a break-in in Walker Gardens in the early hours of August 25, have issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.

PC Catherine Manns said: “We would like to speak to this man as we believe he may have some information which could help with our investigation.

“We’d also like to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area in the early hours of the morning, or any strange vehicles seen in the neighbourhood.”

She added: “I would also like to take this opportunity to remind residents to make sure that all garages and outbuildings are secure at all times.

“I’d also advise residents to mark their valuables, such as tools and bikes, by using a property or police approved forensic marking solution, as this will help to deter to thieves.”
