Efit image released following robbery in Southampton

Do you recognise this man?

Detectives have released an efit image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a robbery that took place near the Chilworth Roundabout, Southampton.

Sometime between 4.10pm and 4.50pm on Tuesday 4 September, a 54-year-old man parked his car and started walking along Roman Road.

He was then approached by a man he did not know. The attacker unsuccessfully attempted to take his car keys and a bouquet of flowers the victim was holding.

The man then made off. Nothing was stolen.

The victim sustained a cut and a graze to his elbow, having fallen to the ground during the incident.

The man is described as:

  • white
    • aged between 35 and 45 years of age
    • around 5ft 7ins
    • of stocky build
    • with light blond/grey hair, which was short and wavy
    • wearing a white and red top with angle stripes
    • riding a black pedal cycle – possibly a mountain or hybrid-style bike.
  • We have released a CCTV image of a man we would like to speak to about this robbery.

Police staff investigator Dan Culling said: “Were you in this area at the time? Did you see what happened?

“Perhaps you were in the area and remember seeing a man matching the description given or the efit image? Or did you see anyone acting suspiciously in this area at the time?

“If so, we would like to hear from you.”
