Teenage girl assaulted in Portchester

We’re appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was assaulted in an alleyway in Portchester.

At around 9.30pm on Tuesday 10 July, the 16-year-old girl was walking through the alleyway between West Street and Priory Gardens when she was approached from behind by a man she did not know.

The man began to walk alongside the victim before pushing her against the fencing in the alleyway.

The victim fought back and was able to escape. She did not sustain any injuries.

The man has been described as:

  • White
  • 6ft tall
  • Big build
  • Short brown hair

He was described as having his face covered and wearing dark clothing.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw a man matching this description in the area at this time.
