Witness appeal made following knifepoint robbery in Horndean

Detectives are appealing for information after cigarettes were stolen during a knifepoint robbery at a shop in Horndean.

It took place around 7.40pm on Wednesday 12 June at the Co-op store in Catherington Lane.

A man, dressed in black and with a pair of black tights on his head, entered the store and threatened staff with a knife.

When they refused to open the till, he climbed over the counter and took boxes of cigarettes. He put them into an orange carrier bag that he was carrying.

He then left the store, got on a pushbike and headed north along Catherington Lane.

No-one was injured in the robbery.

The man is described as:

• white
• of skinny build
• aged between 20 and 40 years of age
• around 5ft 5ins tall
• dark hair

An investigation is underway and officers are looking to see if this is linked to any other similar incidents.
