Using only ice and snow for material, ICEHOTEL is constructed anew during every November and December and melts away during late spring. Every year artists from around the globe are selected to design and construct the ICEHOTEL suites.

Spaceport Sweden has collaborated with the ICEHOTEL, Kiruna Airport and Scandinavian Airlink to launch an exclusive space tourism experience that will allow clients to get an even closer look at the magical and mythical northern lights. The premier flight takes place on the 15th January 2012.

There is an on-going pre-study concerning the possibility to build a mosque of ice and snow at ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden. The idea arose during the winter of 2010 and the initiator is Peo Strömberg, CEO of Globile Ventures, Sweden. A decision on building an ice mosque has not yet been made.
