imagineear appointed as audio partner by Gardens by the Bay

imagineear has been appointed by Singapore National Parks Board as the audio partner for the ambitious waterside project, Gardens by the Bay, due to open mid-Summer 2012, and destined to become a national icon.

Singapore City is redefining itself from a 'Garden City' to become a 'City in a Garden', as part of a holistic programme to weave greenery and flora into a tapestry across the island state and in this way to raise significantly the quality of life.

Gardens by the Bay, realised by the National Parks Board, is an integral part of this 'City in a Garden' vision. A project of horticulture and garden artistry spanning three waterfront gardens and over 100 acres, Gardens by the Bay will bring the world of plants to the City. Bay South, the largest garden, at 54 hectares, will officially open in June 2012. Both inside the conservatory domes and in the outdoor gardens, the visitor experience will be enhanced in English and in Mandarin by an audio-visual tour provided by imagineear Singapore, delivered on the imagineear mediaPacker™ handheld media player.

At a speech given at a special preview of the Flower dome, Lee Kuan Yew, first Prime Minister of Singapore, and one of history’s longest serving ministers, explained the motivation behind the project: "Many countries now do tree-planting and call themselves garden cities. To retain our edge and continue to improve our living environment, we have been transforming Singapore into a City in a Garden. This City in a Garden vision is not just about developing green infrastructure. We are actually building a home to be proud of in the next few decades."

"We are absolutely delighted to have been appointed to play our part in this inspirational project", said Andrew Jeffery, Director of imagineear Singapore. "Not only are the Gardens by the Bay an incredible feat of architecture and technology, they are the epitome of the Green Singapore philosophy."

Andrew Nugée, CEO imagineear added: "It is a privilege to work on such an ambitious and uplifting project. Taken together with our work on the once-in-a-decade Floriade horticultural show in the Netherlands, we are fortunate to be focussing imagineear's creativity on such exciting and worthwhile environmental causes."
