Kent Audio Tours has chosen the mediaPacker platform to launch a multilingual walking tour service in Canterbury, Canterbury Audio Tours.
In July, Kent Audio Tours will introduce imagineear's mediaPacker platform to deliver walking tours to the city of Canterbury, featuring all major landmarks and coupled with discounts for featured attractions and eateries. The new technology means visitors to Kent's leading tourist destination can benefit from pre-recorded images and videos, together with a choice of further information on key sights which are presented as onscreen options.
Canterbury is one of the most visited cities in the United Kingdom, and is justly famed for its colourful history, from the arrival of St Augustine in the 6th Century, via the infamous murder of Thomas Beckett in the Cathedral in 1170, to Geoffrey Chaucer's 14th Century classic, The Canterbury Tales. As well as telling stories of these more recognised events and places of interest, Canterbury Audio Tours takes visitors on a journey, exploring the ruins of the Norman Castle, climbing the steps to the medieval prison at the Westgate Towers and discovering why Canterbury has a building more crooked than the Leaning Tower of Piza. Then visitors can find a more tranquil side to Canterbury wandering through one of three beautiful gardens, or discover the old Franciscan Friary on its own secret island. Plus the tour is packaged with discounts to partners 'The Canterbury Tales' and 'Canterbury Historic River Tours'.
Beyond Canterbury, imagineear's mediaPacker platform is market-leading in delivering walking tours around the world – from Miami Beach in Florida to the Balastier Trail in Singapore. For visitors, the mediaPacker offers simple usability as well as high quality video and audio, while for clients and tour guides, the reliability and straight-forward multilingual operation of the platform make the mediaPacker the obvious choice.
The tour of Canterbury is the first project in a wider partnership between Kent Audio Tours and imagineear, with both companies looking to explore new experiences to offer to travellers in Kent and beyond. As Nick Sherrard, imagineear's Head of Business Development, explains: "We welcome the opportunity to help entrepreneurial tour-guide companies by providing a simple, powerful and scalable technology platform that suits their needs perfectly. And we look forward to building this and similar relationships over time".
Rebecca Leather, Founder of Kent Audio Tours, added: "We have enjoyed working with imagineear, and look forward enormously to bringing the mediaPacker platform to our visitors in Canterbury. It's a perfect combination of our local knowledge, and imagineear's global experience, and the clear winner is the visitor".
