Bonsai Festival in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture

Bonsai of Japanese apricot trees will be displayed in Keiunkan Hall in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture.

According to the blooming period, about 90 of 300 apricot trees will be displayed on the pure Japanese-style tatami floor. Among them, there is an old tree, which is nearly 3m in height and over 400 years old.  

Nagahama Bonsai Festival started in 1952, and it marks the 64th anniversary in 2015. It will be held from January 10 and lasts for two months. It is held as one of the spring features.

Nagahama Bonsai Festival is known as the Bonsai Festival having the longest history and the largest scale.
