Question of the Day: Amar Hothi, 31, Maintenance Manager at the Keatons Stratford Office

Q: Amar, do you speak another language?

A: Yes, I speak Punjabi. I learnt Punjabi growing up; my parents would go to work and we would be looked after by my Grandmother, who spoke no English. Being around my Grandmother for 12 hours a day, I picked up the language. I didn’t go to any classes, it was just picked up and became second nature. Punjabi has helped me in a number of situations and it has helped me when I have been in India. The worst thing is not knowing what someone is saying when they are speaking in a different language to one you do not know.
