Thomas Cook Airlines boosts LLA's growing route network

The first flight operated by Thomas Cook Airlines took off from London Luton Airport (LLA) yesterday, marking the arrival of the 14th airline at the airport and the 14th new route this year.

The new route will serve the Greek island of Corfu, operating every Sunday throughout the summer season.

LLA already offers flights to over 130 destinations and is continuing to expand its route network as part of its current transformation project. 19 new routes have been confirmed in 2017 so far.

The transformation plans will increase annual capacity at LLA by 50% to 18 million passengers by 2020. This includes doubling the size of its shopping and dining area for passengers; recent new additions include Bella Italia and Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, which will be joined by FRISKA and Benugo this summer and The Smithfield a new pub/restaurant.

Simon Harley, Head of Business Development at LLA, said: “As one of the UK’s longest-serving tour operators, Thomas Cook brings a legacy of excellent customer service and uncompromisingly high standards – exactly the qualities we look for in an airline partner. As we continue to grow our route network during our transformation, Thomas Cook will help us to ensure that passengers enjoy the best possible experience when they travel with us.”

James Burrows, Aviation Director at Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “We’re proud to be joining London Luton Airport at this exciting point in its history. we’re looking forward to welcoming all the passengers who will be flying from LLA with us this summer.”
