Press release -

Meet Philippa Snare, CMO Microsoft UK, at the Like Minds "Salon Talk" on "Digital Innovation"

This month at the Like Minds Salon talk we have a rare opportunity for you to meet and hear from Philippa Snare, the CMO of Microsoft UK. Philippa is going to talk about "Digital Innovation" in business, and is well-placed to offer her thoughts, insights and vision on an area that is affecting just about every single organisation and business in the UK. Philippa has also recently been widely quoted as saying the "Microsoft board 'does not care' about number of Facebook likes" and here's your opportunity to hear directly from her on what this means.

As Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft UK, Philippa’s remit covers consumer and commercial marketing communications, internal communications, digital platform, data analytics, CRM and agency management within the Marcomms and operations division.

Philippa also says citizenship is high on the agenda and that it is part of every Microsoft employee’s brief to build it into their day-to-day work, as well as participate in volunteering. While Microsoft may be a US business, she says it ‘cares and invests a huge amount of time, energy, expertise and resource’ in every market in which it operates.

This includes project work for underprivileged children, schools, tech start-ups and the government. Most recently, Snare has been participating in a project aimed at getting people back into work, by helping them assess their skills, develop new ones and access mentors to make them employable in the digital world.

Although she has spent a long time at Microsoft she isn’t by any means a ‘Microsoft lifer’ - ’I’ll move on when I feel the time is right. Like a relationship, there has to be a balance between what I’m giving and getting, and if I’m not learning and stretching [myself], I’ll find somewhere else to play.’

Philippa's talk is part of our series of afternoon "Salon Talks" held at the SWAROVSKI CRYSTALLIZED™ lounge and aimed primarily at Women in Business (although men are more than welcome to attend as well). The format is informal networking from 4pm, before a brief talk, over tea and cup cakes, followed by a Q&A session and networking until 5:30pm. Guests are invited to stay for some further retail therapy in the Swarovski store afterwards using their exclusive 15% Like Minds discount. Like Minds unites innovators, thinkers and doers together through its series of thought leadership events and co-working spaces.

We were founded in August 2009 amidst the boom of Social Media, where communication was drastically changing, and knowledge was overflowing – creating both the opportunity and the necessity for us to act and turn our ideas into reality. Our mission is to create a platform where participants can join fellow like minds in order to inspire one another and make those ideas happen, all on a level that is accessible both financially and structurally.

“Like Minds is an intellectual playground where thinkers, strategists, agents provocateurs, innovators, challengers and mavericks can open up, share ideas and be inspired in a warm, welcoming and world-wide environment. If you haven’t been, go. You’ll see the future there; most likely, yours.”Robert Bean - The Robert Bean Branding Company
