The Wakefield Murders

Ahmad Otak savagely murdered two teenage girls in Wakefield, in 2012, and abducted his ex-partner ELISA FRANK. She bravely escaped and he was arrested, now serving 34 years in prison. But Elisa was left with a life sentence of grief, not to mention PTSD to go with her existing mental health issues of Borderline Personality Disorder and Bulimia, and she spent months in psychiatric care.

All that kept her going was a determination to honour her sister's memory through writing. Her book THE BORDERLINE DIARIES (ISBN 9781910027011), published by Local Legend, is beautifully written. Yes, she describes the terrible events in detail, but she focuses on their legacy: her descriptions of others' behaviour and of her own mental states are breath-taking and humbling.

This book is already attracting national attention with interviews on TV and radio, while ITV will be screening a documentary about Elisa on 8th March 2015 in the series Britain's Darkest Taboos. Elisa's story deserves to be widely read, for her insights to the mind as much as for her courage.
