School crossing patrollers
This week the Scotsman (entire circulation 26,783, full-price copies17,000) published an article stating that Moray Council were proposing to cut school crossing patrollers, and would be the first council in Scotland to do so. This is not true. Read the erroneous article here
Over the last five years and in response to increasing budget pressures, nearly 300 school crossing patrollers have been cut by Scottish councils, including Edinburgh, Falkirk and South Lanarkshire.
Moray Council is facing an extremely challenging financial position over the next two years and needs to reduce its annual costs by £14million. Reducing services such as school crossing patrollers is one option up for discussion in our forthcoming consultation.
