Kinloss the sunniest place in the UK

Scotland, much of N. Ireland, NW England and Wales all had slightly more sunshine than average while other areas were just below normal. Sunshine over England and Wales was 95% of average but Scotland had 115%. This pattern of anomalies actually meant that total observed sunshine amounts were quite uniform across the UK. The above-normal sunshine hours in north-western areas was a welcome change after the dull summer. The sunniest place was Kinloss on the Moray Firth in north-east Scotland with 129 hours.
