Bucks4Buckie community fund launched
Groups in Buckie are being offered the chance to grab their share of a £20,000 funding pot.
The cash is designed to support groups of all types and sizes in the town and is available through the ‘Bucks4Buckie; Real Money, Real People, Real Power’ scheme managed by the Buckie Area Forum’s Regeneration Group.
Local residents will get the final say as to where the cash should go.
Regeneration Group chairman, Gordon McDonald, said grants of varying sizes are on offer.
“This project will culminate in a public event in Buckie, where those in attendance will vote on which applications should receive a share of £20,000,” he said.
“Any local community, voluntary, or non-profit organisation can apply for funding from £200 to £2000, by completing a short application form. Only groups in the town of Buckie are eligible.”
The initiative is being administered by Buckie Area Forum, which consists of a volunteer representative of community groups supported by Moray Council’s Community Support Unit.
To be eligible for a chance of funding from the scheme a project should provide economic benefit for as many people as possible from across the community, or help to make Buckie a better place for everyone. It can be a large or small project which benefits the local economy. This could include starting a childcare club in a local hall, provision of story-telling boards for local walks, a community café or bus club. If it brings some economic development to your area the only limit is your imagination.
Informal groups do not need to have a constitution or a bank account but will require the support of a constituted local group or organisation prepared to accept monies on your behalf.
Bucks4Buckie will launch on Monday November 13th with the deadline for applications being Wednesday January 31st 2018.
Application forms, complete with contact details will be available from Buckie Community High School, the Moray Council Access Point on Cluny Square and Buckie Library.
