Consultation on 33-period Moray school week
Moray Council has launched a survey as part of a wide-ranging consultation on plans to introduce a 33-period week in all eight of its secondary schools.
The new arrangements, which is it proposed to implement at the start of the 2018-19 session, will help to increase opportunities and experiences for learners, raise attainment and achievement and ensure they are work-ready.
Many Scottish local authorities operate a 32 or 33-period week while schools in Moray currently have a 30-period timetable.
The consultation will involve parents, staff and trade unions but anyone is free to respond to the survey which can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/33periodschoolweek
The survey will be open until 5pm on Friday, May 19.
A Moray Council spokesman said: “The reasons for proposing the changes are that they will help us in our ambition to strive for excellence and equity by raising attainment and closing the attainment gap.
“Changing the school week will give us greater flexibility to develop and enhance the curriculum for all learners.
“It will give us an increased variety of opportunities for learning and teaching, more flexibility to work with a range of partners and give pupils more options for wider achievement.”
