Consultation on school catchments
Public consultation will get under way next week on relatively minor changes to the catchment areas of some schools in and around Elgin.
Within the past year councillors have approved revised zones for Elgin primary schools and for Moray’s secondary schools.
Since then parents and members of the public have made further suggestions which has prompted education officers to recommend a number of minor adjustments to the catchment areas of Bishopmill, Seafield, West End, Linkwood and Lhanbryde primary schools as well as Elgin Academy, Elgin High and Milne’s High.
Moray Council’s children and young people’s services committee was told the proposed changes would effectively ‘tidy up’ the school catchment areas within – and bordering – Elgin.
The consultation period will begin on Monday, November 21 and continue until 5pm on Friday, January 20, with a public meeting taking place at Elgin Town Hall on Wednesday, November 30 at 7pm.
The catchment proposals can be accessed at www.moray.gov.uk/rezoning or from the Moray Council access point in Elgin or from any of the schools themselves.
