Heavy machinery on site at Elgin's Edgar Road extension
Heavy plant and machinery have been on site of the new Edgar Road extension in Elgin.
The extension will form the access road to the proposed new Elgin High School.
The road works will take approximately 13 weeks and will create a new access for both Greenwards Primary and the new secondary school.
Contractors Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering say that the section up to Greenwards Primary will be completed before the new school term starts in August, with the remainder to the High School site shortly afterwards.
Work on the new school has been temporarily delayed whilst government resolve an EU accounting wrangle, but Moray Council is pressing ahead with roadworks to minimise any further holdups. The EU issue does not affect the roadworks as these are funded separately.
Contractors will be resurfacing Edgar Road west of the Cedarwood Centre, replacing the street lighting and the provision of an informal parking area to cater for visitors to the Wetlands.
