Mapping out the future of Forres

The public in Forres are being given the opportunity to help map out the future of their town.

Planning for Real® is a consultation process which gives local residents a big say in deciding how their community should look in the years ahead.

A group of local volunteers have been leading on the project – entitled Forres 2020 Vision - with help from Moray Council’s community support unit.

Now they want the public to become involved by contributing their ideas to a large scale 3D map of what Forres could look like in the future.

People are being invited to drop in at Forres Town Hall on Saturday, September 3 from 10am to 4pm and Monday, September 12 from 5pm to 8pm.

Similar Planning for Real® projects are already taking place at Dufftown, Aberlour, Portgordon and Lhanbryde.

Community support worker Sylvia Jamieson, who is involved with the Forres project, urged as many people as possible to go along to the drop-in sessions.

“Similar exercises have been carried out as part of the other projects elsewhere in Moray and they have been a great success,” she said.

“People have brought along some very good ideas to help create a vision of how they would like their local community to look going forward.”
