NAG is delighted to support the Manchester Girl Geeks!
Apr 26, 2012 12:20 BST
January 2012 – The Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) is delighted to announce its first collaboration of 2012 with the sponsorship of the Manchester Girl Geeks – a not-for-profit group based in Manchester UK which organises networking events, talks and hands-on workshops for women and girls with an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The Manchester Girl Geeks mission resonated loudly in the ears of NAG due to NAG’s own not-for-profit status and aim to foster new talent in computers, science and technology. NAG already runs various Student Awards and offers internal placements, but is always on the look-out for new initiatives in this area to support. NAG is looking forward to attending some of the Girl Geek events, and supporting the group in its very worthwhile mission.
“We’re really excited about the Manchester Girl Geeks work. NAG’s foundations remain tightly in education and we strive to support students by various ways, but we recognise that the amount of girls choosing technology led subjects at school and later on at higher education is low. We want to help reverse this trend and so choose the Manchester Girl Geek group to help do this.” Susan Shayler, Chief Operating Office, Numerical Algorithms Group.
