NetSupport extends its assessment and monitoring capabilities for desktop and tablet-based classrooms

NetSupport School, the most widely adopted solution of its kind, ensures teachers remain in control of computer led instruction whatever the mix of technology - developing over the last 25 years from a Windows- based solution to one that also supports Mac, Linux, Chromebook and both Android and Apple iOS tablets.

And the latest update to its Student app for Android tablets and Kindle Fire introduces even more of the product’s core classroom management tools – the Question and Answer module, File Transfer and further Screen monitoring support.

A recent addition to NetSupport School’s PC version, the Question and Answer module gives teachers the ability to deliver instant student and peer assessment, use different questioning styles and gauge student understanding at any point during a lesson. This latest update enables students using an Android tablet to also participate in a teacher-led Q&A session.

File Transfer, always a favoured time-saving tool to help speed the flow of work between teacher and student, is also now supported on Android tablets, enabling teachers to transfer files from their desktop to selected student tablets or multiple devices in an instant.

The Student app also delivers real-time screen viewing capabilities via apps which have been validated and signed by many of the leading tablet manufacturers. NetSupport School is unique in ensuring teachers can see student activity on Android tablets without the need for compromising device security.

Other enhancements in the latest version include the ability to launch the Student app when tablets are switched on at the start of a lesson and, for added convenience, devices can be configured to automatically sign in to the required NetSupport-managed classroom.

Commenting on the latest update, NetSupport’s Managing Director Al Kingsley said:

“The increased use of mobile technology in the classroom and the growing popularity of BYOD schemes sets the challenge for classroom management vendors to ensure that relevant teaching tools are available across a range of devices.”

Mr Kingsley continues: “NetSupport School offers a unique set of assessment tools to aid teachers in their delivery of best practice in the classroom, so we are naturally delighted to be able to bring our Q&A features to our Android version. The ability to move documents quickly between teacher and students is another key component of successful classroom management and the inclusion of one-to-one and one-to-many File Transfer is another major addition.”

The NetSupport School Student app for Android is available for free download from Google Play and the Amazon App Store.
