Press release -

Titles of rejected book manuscripts are wanted for an artwork in memory of Stieg Larsson.

A public artwork will be erected in memory of the journalist and author of the Millennium-Trilogy, Stieg Larsson and his work for democracy and free speech as well as against discrimination. The artwork was commissioned by Stieg Larsson's hometown of Umeå and will be installed in newly built and architecture prize awarded cultural centre Väven (the “Weave”).

The commissioned work, Bibliotheca Non Grata (”The unwanted library”), is both a physical and an online library made up of rejected literature from all over the world, as well as an investigation on what kind of stories, experiences and ideas which haven’t found their way to readers and the public eye. Now the creators of the artwork, artist and professor Måns Wrange and architect Igor Isaksson, invite established as well as unestablished authors to contribute to the artwork with the title of a book manuscript which has been rejected by a publisher. The titles can be submitted on the project's website www.rejectedbooks.org. Here you can also find more information about the art project.
