Workshop for journalists
Turning the Page of Hate: How Journalists Can Combat Sexual Bias.
What ethical responsibility do journalists have to eliminate hate speech and stereotypical reporting?
Journalism is not free speech, it is constrained expression. It works in a framework of values. It has purpose. It is a public good. When we understand this we are better equipped to identify and deal with hate speech.
Designed for working journalists and students, the workshop aims to provide practical and theoretical tools for journalists reporting on gender and sexual minorities.
Speakers:
Aidan White, Director, Ethical Journalism Network
Reidun Kjelling Nybø, Assistant secretary general, Association of Norwegian Editors
Amna Veledar, Advisor, The Equality and Anti-discrimination Ombud
