New wallpaper designer – Photowall welcomes Kaja Solgaard
With a minimalist, explorative feel for design, Norwegian Kaja Solgaard is now creating new patterns for Photowall of Sweden’s collection of design wall murals. She boldly goes against common perceptions of trendiness, instead striving for craftsmanlike quality inspired by painting and sculpture.
Photowall is now offering two unique brand new pattern collections. Kaja calls the first one Greens and Blues, and in them she uses watercolours to explore different hues, in geometric shapes. The result is at once organic and modern, and is ideal for us colour lovers who can never really decide on a single shade.
The other collection is called Powerlines and is inspired by the area in Norway that Kaja comes from. As a young girl she regarded the electricity poles there as a kind of landscape sculpture, and was attracted to the interesting shapes they could lead to. One summer Kaja took her camera to her old hometown, and those photos came to provide the basis for this graphical wallpaper pattern, which Photowall now offers in four different colour constellations.

Kaja is active as a product and furniture designer. Following art studies in Oslo, she moved to Stockholm
and graduated from Beckmans College of Design in 2011.
