Fuller’s launches Wise Men beer to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK

Fuller, Smith & Turner, the London brewer and premium pub company, has launched Wise Men – a seasonal beer that will also raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. The beer will be available during December in Fuller’s managed and tenanted pubs and independent free trade outlets.

The beer is a 4.0% golden ale, with malty, tropical and citrus notes and a hint of blackberry on the palate. It is brewed with American Mosaic Hops, giving it a bold finish. The beer is available on cask only.

It was officially launched today [6 December 2016] at the Red Lion, Whitehall. Fuller’s will be donating 50p for every pint sold in its 196 Managed Pubs and £10 for every firkin sold to its tenants and free trade customers.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, and 11, 000 men die from the disease each year. By 2030, it is set to become the most commonly diagnosed cancer of all in the UK.

Money raised through Fuller’s pubs and their customers will help fund research into the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of prostate cancer, as well as supporting men and their families who are affected by the disease.

James Beeby, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK said: “We are thrilled that Fuller’s are supporting us through brewing and selling Wise Men. As well as raising funds this initiative will also raise awareness of a disease which affects 1 in 8 men in the UK, and will hopefully get across an important health message. Our aim is to reach as many men as possible, and encourage them to take responsibility of their health. To do this we need to be engaging with them in areas they already exist – such as the pub. We thank the team at Fullers for creating Wise Men and helping us in the fight against prostate cancer.”

Nick Corden, Retail Marketing Manager for Fuller’s, said: “When we were approached by Prostate Cancer UK to support them during the Christmas period, it made sense to combine the two things Fuller’s is best at – brewing great beer and serving it in fantastic pubs. The new beer is already proving to be a big hit with our customers and it’s great to be raising awareness of, and money for, such an important cause.”
