Jim Bowen TV Poll Award
In 2015, Quiz Britain conducted an online poll to settle the argument who was the UK's favourite TV quiz show host. The poll featured around 80 hosts that had hosted their own shows at one time or another, including many of the ones seen on our screens today. The result was a complete surprise to everybody as former comedian and teacher Jim Bowen got a whopping 26% of the vote!
As host of the popular ITV show Bullseye from 1981- 1995, Jim brought his own wit and stamp on the darts based show. Along with his side kick Tony Green, who joined him in the second series, the show was as popular for his many gaffes. The quirky prizes included the popular speedboat which was sometimes won by contestants who never owned a car to tow it with!
Although the show was revived in 2006 with a new host Dave Spikey, it was missing the thing which made it's viewing so compulsive - Jim Bowen.
