Press release -

Swedish magazine app company Readly signs strategic agreement with TeliaSonera

Readly, based in Växjö in southern Sweden, is a fast-growing startup that has been described as the ‘Spotify for magazines’. The company offers a subscription-based, all-you-can-read magazine app for tablet and smartphone users. Today Readly has a collection of over a thousand primarily English, German and Swedish language titles and their back issues totaling around 16,000 magazines.

TeliaSonera is a leading telecoms company active in mobile, fixed, broadband and TV and with operations under a number of different brands in 15 different countries, among them Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway. First out to offer Readly to its customers is Telia in Sweden effective of 1st June 2015.

  • -We are greatly impressed by the service Readly offers. Using the Readly app is just as convenient and enjoyable as reading a magazine on paper, and the range of titles is vastly better than anything any newsstand can offer. What’s also brilliant is that the user can consume them at home; on a train; or plane; or on vacation, says Patrik Höljö, Head of TeliaSonera Global Value Added services.
  • -For us, this is a breakthrough on the operators market and it is extremely important for us. We have seen how well the cooperation between Telia and Spotify has worked out and the benefits for both parties. So we are extremely proud and happy that TeliaSonera has chosen us for a similar cooperation, says Per Hellberg, CEO at Readly.

Readly also offers book and newspaper reading but the cooperation agreement with TeliaSonera will initially only cover the magazine offering. Launched in spring 2013, Readly is active on the Swedish, German, British and American markets. The company has around 40 employees and offices in Växjö, Stockholm, Berlin, London and Austin, Texas. Readly is owned by its founders and private investors.
