Press release -

Chance to win a week in the sun in Mayor’s Charity Raffle

Put on your lucky socks, cross your fingers and head down to the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre this Friday and Saturday for the chance to win a seven night stay on the Costa Del Sol in the Mayor’s Charity Raffle.

As well as the top prize of a fantastic half-board holiday, lucky shoppers will also be in with the chance to win a £250 voucher for J & D Alexander Jewellers, a Kindle Fire HD to help keep connected on the move, tickets to a Manchester City home game at the Etihad Stadium and a six month membership from Link4Life amongst a range of other prizes.

Tickets will be on sale for £1 each or £5 for a book from members of the Mayor’s charity committee from 10am to 3pm on both days. They will be hoping to add to the funds already raised at last month’s country fete.

Mayor Carol Wardle said “Who doesn’t love that holiday feeling, so imagine how amazing it’ll be to jet off into the sunshine without having to pay for your flights, hotel or food. Even if you don’t win our top prize, there are some truly first-class prizes on offer and I’m sure the tickets will be snapped up quickly.

“The first Mayor’s Country Fete was a wonderful success managing to raise more than £6,000 for Rochdale Children’s Moorland House, Springhill Hospice and the Heywood Youth Link. With this charity raffle and the upcoming Mayor’s Ball – we’re confident that we can raise lots more.”

The Mayor’s Ball takes place at Rochdale Town Hall on 17 October and will celebrate 40 fabulous years of the borough of Rochdale. You’ll be able to enjoy a fizz reception, followed by a fabulous four-course banquet. Distinguished guests will include the Mayors of Greater Manchester together with local business leaders. Music and entertainment will be provided by a pop rock trio, The Trends and singer and pianist Lydia Gillibrand.

Just a few tickets remain, priced at £35 each or £300 for a table of ten. To book tickets, email townhall.bookings@rochdale.gov.uk.
